I’m both amazed at how quickly Oztek seems to have come around again, and amazed at how many dive trips to exciting places I’ve managed to achieve since last Oztek. Oztek 2015 is on the 14th & 15th of March at Australian Technology Park in Sydney. As with Oztek 2013 I’ll be speaking. This time around my talk is around the joys and challenges of models in photos. I’ll be discussing about how to work with your dive buddies, persuade them to pull happy faces, and find the angle that looks heroic amid the chaos. The speaker schedule is now out and I’ll be in Room 6B on Saturday at 10am. I’m also looking forward to having a chat on [read more…]

Eurotek this weekend

I’m currently in the midst of a whirlwind tour of the caves of The Lot, France and taking huge numbers of photos to share with you shortly. First though, this weekend I will be in Birmingham at Eurotek. I’m speaking at 11am on Sunday morning which is hopefully enough time for the assembled company to recover from any indiscretions on Saturday evening. My talk will be covering our adventures in Elk River which you may have been following along here – exploration beyond sump 6 and into sump 7, survey and mapping, dye tracing and of course photography. If you happen to be in the area, come and say hi…I look forward to seeing you there!

Over the course of my week at Atlantis Dive Resort Dumaguete in the Philippines (with thanks to Diversion Dive Travel) I did 26 dives plus a day trip to snorkel with the whalesharks. This meant heaps of in-water time to photograph everything that moved and a few things that didn’t (more photo stories to come!). So by day three or four I swapped my strobes for my Archon video lights and jumped in to try something different. I hadn’t attempted video with my 100mm macro lens before and I was fairly sure it was going to be tricky – I was right. But the critters at Dumaguete were fairly obliging and the sandy bottom made it easier to stabilise the [read more…]

Off to the Philippines

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and happy holidays to everyone! I’m excited to be heading off to the Philippines in two day’s time, diving at Atlantis Resort Dumaguete on a trip sponsored by Diversion Dive Travel. Dirk at Diversion has been extraordinarily helpful with all the details of the trip, especially when it turned out that a change in the Philippines Airlines sports baggage policy meant my rEvo wouldn’t be able to come. So I will be back on open circuit for a week of critter spotting. I spent last night in the garage putting together a singles reg for a yoke tank – I must be going the tropics. I’ve also discovered that there’s no in seat entertainment on [read more…]

With last year’s cave diving calendar about to turn to the final page (revealing far too many Christmas parties, I might add), I’m putting 2014 calendars on special. This year I have created both a cave diving and an ocean diving calendar. From now until Tuesday these are just $30 plus $2 postage within Australia. Send through your payment, your calendar preference and your postal address by PayPal to liz@lizrogersphotography.com by midnight on Tuesday to take advantage of the discounted pricing! The two albums below show the images in each calendar.
